Arrival Ayers Rock Airport - Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Tour Day 1

  • Arrive at Ayers Rock Airport.
  • Drive into the National Park and around Uluru.
  • Stop to photograph Uluru up close.
  • Visit the Uluru Cultural Centre to begin your cultural experience and guided walk.
  • Walk along the Liru Track with your accredited guide who will explain animal tracks, bush tucker, traditional tools, sand drawing and ancestral stories of the blue tongue lizard, an ancient visitor to Uluru.
  • View and photograph Uluru from the sunset viewing area.

Uluru Kata Tjuta Exploring Day 2

  • View Uluru at sunrise from the National Park viewing platform.
  • Further discovery of Uluru and it’s art sites and sacred grounds.
  • Afternoon exploration of Kata Tjuta – 2 or ½ hour walk of the Valley of the Winds and another short walk at Walpa Gorge near Mount Olga.
  • Learn Aboriginal stories and discuss Tjukurpa and the Songlines. Learn their relevance to Anangu life in the desert.
  • View the cave paintings – possibly one of the most significant art sites in Central Australia.

Uluru to Cave Hill overnight Curtin Springs Station Day 3

  • Depart early with your specialist guide as you head towards Cave Hill in APY Lands, South Australia, which is Central Australia’s most isolated and significant rock art site.
  • Aboriginal elders will discuss Tjukurpa and the Songlines and learn of their relevance to Anangu life in the desert.
  • View magnificent cave paintings – only open to tour visitors in the past 10 years.
  • Mid afternoon departure for Curtin Springs Station, a working cattle station. A great place for dinner and a great night together.

Morning at Curtin Springs afternoon Kings Canyon Resort Day 4

  • After a hearty breakfast on your way to Kings Creek Station.
  • Stop to photograph an unusual rock formation Atilla and Lake Amadeus.
  • Travel to Kings Creek Station for lunch, camel burgers and a cuppa.
  • Afternoon exploring Kings Canyon option for a 3 hour rim walk or a relaxing short creek walk at the canyon base.
  • Travel through Watarrka National Park to Kings Canyon Resort for check in.
  • Remainder of day at leisure.

Mereenie Track, Gosses Bluff to Glen Helen Resort Day 5

  • Travel the infamous Mereenie Track through Homelands.
  • Maybe see kangaroos, camels, wild donkeys, horses, bird life & reptiles.
  • Photograph a comet crater — the earth’s number 3 impact site and detour into Gosses Bluff for viewing one of the world’s largest impact sites.
  • After a picnic lunch onto Glen Helen Resort in the heart of the MacDonnell Ranges – beautiful.
  • ½ hour walk to experience Glen Helen Gorge.
  • Coach travel to Ormiston Gorge or for the energetic walk to the Gorge.
  • Return to Glen Helen for overnight, another location for a great night and evening walk to Glen Helen Gorge.

Larapinta Trail Walk to Ormiston Gorge Day 6

  • Depart Glen Helen Resort for an exhilarating walk on the Larapinta Trail, section 10 to Ormiston Gorge. An excellent sample of this famous wilderness experience. To rejoin your coach.

Hermannsburg Community and Spectacular Palm Valley onto Alice Springs Day 7

  • Option to visit Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ochre Pits
  • Onto Hermannsburg.
  • A guided tour of the historic Lutheran Mission and perhaps the Primary School.
  • Visit Albert Namatjira Art Gallery and Museum.
  • An afternoon visiting Palm Valley noted for its magnificent scenery and it’s Gondwanaland vegetation – 4WD tracks only.
  • Travel through the Western Macs for overnight accommodation and dinner out at a Chinese Restaurant.

A Guided Tour of Alice Springs & Nearby Day 8

  • Walk through the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens.
  • Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Base.
  • At Rex’s Reptile Park see and handle snakes, pythons, lizards and crocodiles.
  • Visit the Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame.
  • Lunch by own arrangement.
  • Afternoon visit the School of the Air and Old Telegraph Station.
  • Climb Anzac Hill for a great panorama of the town and ranges.
  • An evening meeting with our Indigenous colleagues (Damien and Uncle Arthur) who will talk about their culture, bush tucker and their traditional culture – also a chance to try playing a didgeridoo.

Alice Springs sight seeing and Earth Sanctuary Day 9

  • Orientation at Alice Springs Desert Park – a multi million dollar park with a one hour indigenous guide.
  • Return to down town Alice Springs.
  • Lunch by own arrangement.
  • Free time for shopping or walking to the old hospital, John Flynn Church and some of the many art galleries.
  • Return to resort for maybe a swim.
  • This evening dinner and show at Earth Sanctuary.
  • Return to accommodation for overnight.
